I Read a Very Timely article, more so because it is election time & Everyone has an Opinion!! Here is the message for those who believe they can actually change someone's opinion on social media!! HA!! All that happens is anger , followed by immature actions & words they will come to regret!
It is called:
Stop Auditioning for Your Own Life
You don’t need everyone to understand you!
Now, Enjoy, while shaking your head thinkin to yourself 'that's right, "
One of the most exhausting ways to live is constantly trying to be understood.
You explain your decisions. Defend your choices. Share things hoping certain people notice. Chase achievements that look impressive from the outside. Slowly, without realizing it, you can build a life around an invisible audience.
And if their approval determines how you move, they’re holding the strings.
That’s the trap.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be understood. We all do. The problem is needing it. Because once you need other people to validate your choices, you start making choices for them. You become a version of yourself designed to get applause rather than a person actually living their own life.
Social media has poured gasoline on this. We can now measure approval in likes, comments, followers, job titles, houses, holidays, and little blue thumbs. We’ve basically turned being liked into a scoreboard.
But there is enormous freedom in realizing that you don’t have to audition anymore.
Some people won’t understand why you changed careers. Why you walked away. Why you stayed. Why you created something. Why you didn’t. Why your version of a good life looks different from theirs.
Let them misunderstand you.
So ask yourself one uncomfortable question: If nobody could see this, would I still want it?
The career. The clothes. The house. The opinion. The goal. The version of yourself you’re working so hard to become.
You might be surprised by the answer.
Because freedom isn’t getting everyone to understand who you are. It’s no longer needing them to.
It’s your life. Stop handing other people the strings.
