📢 Major Mortgage Update: Credit Scores Aren’t the Door Blocker Anymore!
For years, Fannie Mae required a 620 minimum credit score to run Desktop Underwriting (DU).
Starting mid-November 2025, that hard cutoff is GONE.
Instead of saying “no” based on a score, DU will now look at:
• Payment history
• Overall credit profile
• Debt-to-income ratio
• Reserves / assets
• Income stability
Borrowers in the 500–590 range now have more opportunity to qualify for a conventional loan — IF the rest of their financial profile is strong.
⚠️ Credit scores still matter.
But now, they’re part of the picture… not the entire decision.
This is a huge win for borrowers who are ready to buy but still improving credit.
