What my real estate brain sees when I’m driving or walking around a neighborhood… 👀
I’m not just looking at houses. I’m looking at how people make a house work.
This one caught my eye.
First, that HUGE arched window. From the side, you can really see how dramatic it is compared to the rest of the house. And because it faces east, it gets that beautiful morning light and brings it into the stairwell.
Then I started noticing all the other little things — the way the house uses vertical space, the different rooflines, the details in the gable, and how the house extends toward the side instead of just becoming one giant box.
And I started thinking about how a home can feel so much bigger and more interesting when the space is used intentionally.
Especially around here, we tend to oooh and ahhh over the big houses with the big lots.
I get it. I do it too. 😂
Bergen County is known for its excellent schools and communities that families really want to be part of. Realistically, not everyone has the budget for the giant house on the giant lot.
So I pay attention to the other options.
The homes with smaller lots.
The property with character.
The houses with interesting layouts.
Places you can see how a family could actually make the space work.
Not everyone needs the biggest house on the block.
Right now maybe you need the right house, in the right community, with the right features for your family — at a price that makes sense for your life.
THAT is one of my favorite things about being a real estate agent.
Yes, I love the boring stuff too. 😂
Pricing. Comps. Inspections. Negotiations. Contracts. Financing. All the things that get you to the closing table.
But I also LOVE solving problems.
Where can we make the space work better?
What could be changed?
What potential are we not seeing?
What home might work for this particular family?
Real estate isn't one-size-fits-all.
The best house isn't always the biggest one.
Sometimes it's the one that makes the most sense.
Its the one you just have to look at a little differently to see what's really there. ❤️
