Follow Me as I Help a Client Downsize

I was reflecting on some past home sales earlier this week and thought it would be fun to share one of my favorite memories.

My clients had made an offer on a home that had multiple offers, which was par for the course in that market (and, in many ways, still is today!). There was quite a bit of back and forth, and eventually, their offer was chosen.

When we arrived for the home inspection, we noticed something unexpected. Small Post-it notes had been left throughout the house.

One near a kitchen window read:
“Many mornings were spent gazing out this window, wondering what the day would bring.”

Another, tucked near the bathtub in the upstairs bathroom, said:
“We remember bathing our oldest for the first time in this tub.”

It was such a simple, charming and heartfelt way for the sellers to pass along a little piece of the love and memories that had filled their home.

As a Realtor, I see this often. Not necessarily through handwritten notes, but through the stories sellers share with me about their homes. The spot where they watched their children take their first steps. The kitchen where countless family dinners were served. The backyard where birthdays were celebrated and summers were spent.
I try to share those stories with potential buyers whenever I can.
Because yes, buyers are purchasing the house, the rooms and the property. But what they are really buying is the opportunity to create a future there.
And I think that is one of the most beautiful parts of helping someone sell a home.

One family gets to pass it on, and another gets the chance to make it theirs.

This morning, I’ll be meeting a photographer at a new listing that will be coming on the market later this week, and it’s a perfect example of why the work we’ve been doing to prepare this home matters so much.

Today, having a fantastic online presence is more important than ever. Staging and professional photography aren’t just extras. They’re an important part of marketing a home.

Think about how most buyers begin their search. They’re scrolling through photos online, often looking at dozens of homes in a matter of minutes. Those photos are where the first cut is made. If a home doesn’t immediately look well maintained, inviting and functional, buyers may simply keep scrolling.

That’s why I include professional staging and professional photography as part of my listing package. My goal is to make sure a home is presented in the best possible light, not just in person, but where buyers are most likely to see it first: online.

There’s been a lot of work behind the scenes to get this home ready, and I can’t wait to show you the finished product!
