The City of Rifle has denied our annexation and therefore our Fritzlan Ranch subdivision. They don’t like our concept but would rather see section 8 type apartment buildings according to The Mayor. He said those would feel more like a community than our plan. Joe Carpenter said he didn’t believe that a typical single family new home actually sells for $600,000 even though we provided the data to prove that. This is a huge missed opportunity for Rifle and is unbelievable that they do not want or support a way for people to own their own home at a more affordable price point. We told them that we have a waiting list with more names than number of homes that we proposed and we had partnered with a lender to get buyers into these homes with minimal down payments and programs for public employees and health care workers.
We would like to thank councilors Brian Condi, Clint Hostetler and Alicia Gresly for their support and votes. We have made an attempt to address the affordability of owning your own single family home but your elected leaders have spoken. They have NO plan to address the housing crisis, in fact at the last hearing Joe Carpenter said he thinks people should just work more jobs to be able to buy a home like everyone else.
Is this really what the citizens of Rifle want? Are you being properly represented?
