Guatemala, 1995. My daughter Saskia and I, reunited after three years apart.

When I couldn’t bring her with me, I had to let go of the plan I had imagined. But I kept fighting until we could be together again.
I changed the arrangement. I held on to the ambition.

If you’re working toward something that matters deeply, a different path or a longer timeline doesn’t have to mean surrender. Sometimes we pause, regroup, and find another way forward.

This photograph holds one of my reasons for believing that.

The Last Thought 🌙🍂

Today, we covered the pool at Villa Maína, closing another season of sunshine, movement, and moments enjoyed by the water. There’s tenderness in putting away something that brought us joy. We can miss a season and still welcome the change.

Perhaps closure begins there: honoring what a chapter gave us, carrying its memories, and allowing ourselves to turn the page, even when every question hasn’t been answered.

Tonight, I’m grateful for what was, and open to what comes next. 💛

As Día de los Mu***os approaches, this little skull invites me to reflect. 💀🕯️

Death can frighten us. It belongs to life, yet saying goodbye to someone we love is never simple.

We also experience smaller endings: a chapter closes, an old identity falls away, a dream changes shape. Even sleep can feel like a little surrender, a poetic letting go before we greet another morning.

Tonight, I’m thinking of those I carry in my heart, and the life still asking for my attention.
