15 HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PROFESSIONALS
Habits are acquired behaviors that subconsciously drive our lives. Successful people develop habits that contribute to their attainments daily. Experts say you should do the following to develop those habits:
Create a daily schedule. Plan each day to maximize revenue-producing activities and minimize the rest. Time block to put your most profitable activities in the most productive hours of the day.
Have a productive morning routine. The most important part of your daily schedule is what you do in the morning. Create a productive morning routine and you’ll have a productive day.
Be a master at what you do. Do everything in a way that puts you above the rest. Set the bar for yourself higher than everyone else sets theirs.
Focus on lead generation. Pursue new business on a consistent basis. If you don’t want a feast or famine revenue stream, keep prospecting even when you’re busy with current business.
Build a network. You become like the people you spend time with. When you hang around with positive achievers, their successful attitudes rub off on you. Build networks with people functioning at a higher level than you, in both your own industry and other businesses.
Develop strategies. Goals are important, but even more important are the strategies you use to reach them. To develop a strategy, think about all the things you’ll need to achieve your goals.
Show up. Make the call, introduce yourself, get involved, follow up. The road to success requires you to always show up.
Cultivate emotional intelligence. This is your ability to manage your emotions while identifying and influencing the emotions of those around you. Being able to control your emotions and influence the emotions of others are critical to success.
Communicate. Communicating well with prospects, clients, partners, and employees creates working relationships that build trust. Good communication starts with asking the right questions, then listening. Put the needs and wants of the other person ahead of your desire to present your case.
Deliver state-of-the-art customer service. The customer experience is key to your success. Pay attention to your customer’s needs and desires, then do whatever is necessary to exceed their expectations.
Keep learning. No one knows everything they need to know in order to succeed—plus, the world around us constantly changes. So, never stop learning. The insights and inspiration you receive will fuel your success.
Get coaching. An outside observer provides you with insights you cannot come up with on your own.
Mentor. It’s been said that if you really want to master something, teach it.
Practice. Practicing things you need to improve may not be pleasant, but targeted practice is key to success. All high achievers, from violinist Itzhak Perlman to swimmer Michael Phelps, put in more focused practice than their competition, ruthless in their commitment to improve every day.
Give back. Be grateful for what you achieve and be willing to give something back. Volunteer in local organizations, or donate funds to meet the needs of those less fortunate.
So, the keys to success are to identify your present habits, keep the good ones, and replace the ones that are preventing you from reaching your goals. You don’t have to develop all these successful habits at once. Just start with one, master it, then go on to the next.
