Today I had the pleasure of having lunch with Jill Hutcherson!

I enjoyed my time Jill and learning about her life. I have known her my whole life but today I asked her questions to learn a little more.

Jill was born in South Bend and if not for a chance meeting of her late husband she may of never heard of Patriot Indiana where she has resided now for almost 50 years.

Jill said in college she was walking one day an it happened to be raining. A friend of hers pulls up and offers her a ride. When she gets in the vehicle her future husband just happened to be in the back seat.

I can’t help but think about the divine intervention that caused that meeting, and I know Switzerland County and Patriot are thankful for it. That day we were thankful for the rain.

Jill is the middle sibling and has two sisters, she also has two children she raised and is a grandmother to quite a few as well. One of her granddaughters recently sent her a wonderful birthday gift that I’ll let you ask her about if you see her out.

Jill and her husband Bruce both worked in education with him being a teacher at Patriot High school and her as a head start teacher! After leaving the education field they embarked on a large farming operation and maybe snuck in a tractor pull here and there.

Tractor pulling took their family many places including all the lower 48 states and even Paris!

Her first impressions of Patriot was that it was tiny and friendly. I think that still holds true today!

Jill told stories of her father playing music when she was young, which led her to play the piano herself! You can find her most Sundays behind the organ at Patriot Baptist Church!

Jill hopes to visit Alaska and Hawaii someday and is thankful that a close friend took her on her first motorcycle ride a few years ago.

Jill has served on countless boards and committees over the years here in Switzerland County, she currently is a Deacon at Patriot Baptist and serves on the Posey Township Advisory Board.

I personally am very thankful for Jill’s friendship and support over the years and I believe our community is a better place with her in it.

Just think it took a little rain to get her to Patriot! Love you Jill thanks for having lunch with me today!

Had a lunch with a very MOTIVATED individual last week that I forgot to report on.

I had lunch with Dan Bihn with Preferred Rate mortgage company in Greendale! Dan is in the Biz as we like to say and is a mortgage loan rock star.

I was able to learn about how Dan got in the business simply by walking in an office and asking for a job! It’s quite the success story.

Dan an I are quite similar in that we are risk takers and enjoy creating new businesses and opportunities in our areas. Dan has built many spec homes over the years and one of his more recent projects was a new storage facility in Lawrenceburg. Really loved one of Dans new ideas, I won’t share that one but it would be a wonderful addition to our area if he pulls it off and I have no doubt that if he sets his mind to it, it will get done. He has also been instrumental in bringing Cars and Coffee to Lawrenceburg, you should check it out. They should begin again in May.

Had another “Cup of Joe” lunch today!

Today I had the pleasure of having lunch with Walter Wengerd!

Walter is a young man, 19 years old! Took me back to my days as a 19 year old, I first became a father at that age and that child is now older than I was then! Time flies folks.

Walter was born into an Amish family! The eldest of 12! At the age of 17 he decided to leave the Amish, the story of that was quite interesting! I learned a lot about Walter and his life today and the decision making behind why he no longer lives as Amish.

I would say Walter is a cycle breaker and proof that no matter your current situation you are always one move away from a totally different life.

Walter definitely has the “want” to succeed in and life and after chatting with him I believe he will find the way to get to where he wants to be!

Thanks Walter for having lunch with me, I truly enjoyed our time!

Had my second “Cup of Joe” lunch meeting today! Once again forgot to get a picture. I’ll get better at that.

Today was lunch with Jack Leonard! I learned a lot about Jack today. He was born in Anderson Indiana an has lived in Indiana his entire life. He graduated from Purdue with a degree in Pharmacology, spent a few years working at a Pharmacy before he bought his very own! He owned that business until 1984, when he sold and semi retired. He ended his career working at the K-Mart pharmacy until 2007. That same year is when he bought his current home in Patriot! We are lucky to have Jack and his wife Sandy as members of our little community. In retirement Jack and Sandy are enjoying traveling and have been many places including Italy! Jack also serves as a Deacon at Patriot Baptist Church and serves on a few board positions in our county!

Thanks again Jack for having lunch with me, and thanks to Kings Landing for the great food! I had the Philly cheesesteak wrap! Highly recommend! Kings landing is located on Main Street in Rising Sun!

Had my first lunch today! Forgot to get a picture to post but enjoyed my time with Mr. Keegan Kincaid. It was nice to talk with someone out of my daily circle and hear about his life, goals and family. Keep up the good work Keegan, thanks for spending some time with me.
