Some updated info on Vaccinations:
Six Flags America Mass Vaccination Site Update
The Six Flags site opened today with a “soft launch” and a visit by the Governor. Vaccinations will be done seven days a week: Sunday/Monday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Tuesday – Saturday 8 am – 3:30 p.m. Appointments are required and can be scheduled at https://massvax.maryland.gov. This website was first advertised this morning with a text message from the state and was shared on social media. From the feedback we have received today, some Bowie residents have been successful in scheduling appointments, but most have encountered errors when trying to book an appointment. Hopefully the problems will be resolved, and this site will become another convenient option for eligible Phase 1 Bowie residents to get vaccinated.
The Maryland National Guard’s vaccination teams will provide support for the site. Kaiser Permanente will provide pharmacy services and post-vaccination observation and care. Patients will not be charged any fees and no insurance information will be collected.
The city will share vaccine appointment information whenever we receive it; however, the most immediate way for you to receive updates regarding state mass vaccination appointments is to text MDReady to 898-211 which will register you for Maryland vaccine alerts.
Scheduling a Vaccine Appointment
While supplies of the vaccine are limited, scheduling an appointment will continue to be challenging for those who are eligible as part of Phase 1. Our best advice for those who are currently eligible to be vaccinated in Phase 1 is to explore all options for getting vaccinated and to be persistent. It may seem as if there are no appointments, but we are hearing daily from residents who have been successful in getting vaccinated at the Prince George’s County Sports and Learning Complex or at the Bowie Giant.
Vaccination Options
1. County Health Department Facilities – Requires pre-registration (see link below). When an appointment is available you will receive an email inviting you to schedule your appointment.
2. Hospital systems – University of Maryland, Luminis, MedStar, and Adventist are offering appointments as supplies permit.
3. Retail pharmacies, such as Giant and Safeway. (So far, none of the Rite Aid and Walmart locations are in our area).
4. Maryland Mass Vaccination Locations – Six sites are planned around the state. The first two opened today, including the one at Six Flags.
The Maryland vaccination website provides links to schedule appointments with hospital systems and retail pharmacies or you can use the direct links below.

Prince George’s County COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Hotline for Seniors – Dial 3-1-1
The Prince George’s County COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Hotline is live for seniors and others who need assistance with pre-registering for a vaccine appointment at a Prince George’s County Health Department location. To access the hotline, dial 311 (press # after the call is answered).
All of the online vaccination appointment websites on the Maryland Vaccine Locator page require an email address for registration. This has been a roadblock for seniors and others who don’t have email or have trouble navigating the appointment websites. Hotline staff will provide assistance to seniors and others who have trouble accessing the Internet in completing the pre-registration form and will follow up to schedule appointments via phone as appointments become available. If you are able, please complete the pre-registration form online; so that the service is available for those who need assistance. Please share this information with any seniors in your lives.
Note: Maryland expects to open its own scheduling hotline for mass vaccination locations by February 15.
