Rain has arrived in Riverside. A few traffic accidents are being reported, including lane closures on NB 215 at Martin Luther King Blvd. as of 9AM 08/20/23. Conditions will deteriorate rapidly throughout the day, so stay alert and heed the below Safety Tips:
🚩 Stay up to date with local information at https://riversideca.gov/press/hurricane-hilary-information-riverside-residents.
🚩 If power goes out, plan to use flashlights or lanterns vs candles to avoid the risk of fire.
🚩 Keep your devices charged in case the power goes out so you can still receive alerts.
🚩 Avoid travel if possible and drive safely if you have to go out. Take your time and err on the side of caution. Remember to drive with your lights on in the rain to increase safety and visibility to others.
🚩 Conditions can change quickly, so please check road conditions at https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ and https://cad.chp.ca.gov/Traffic.aspx before you go, and be prepared for deteriorating conditions as you travel.
🚩 Turn Around, Don’t Drown. It doesn’t take much moving water to sweep a vehicle away, and flood waters can hide roadway damage.
🚩 If you use a generator or your vehicle, make sure you plan to keep toxic exhaust from entering your home. Generators should be located 20 ft from buildings while in use & vehicles should be run outside the garage with exhaust pointed away.
