If you love activewear and athleisure, this is one South Roanoke spot you’ll want to know about. ✨

Tucked just behind The Little Button on Crystal Spring Avenue, lume is a locally owned, women-owned boutique created by my friend Kara Hartman. She’s curated an amazing collection of women’s activewear brands you can’t shop anywhere else in Roanoke. Some of my favorites are Varley, Left on Friday and Splits59.

And while you can find these brands online, there’s something so nice about being able to shop locally, try everything on, and maybe discover a new favorite along the way.

Whether you’re headed to a workout or just appreciate a really good athleisure outfit, Lume is definitely worth a visit!

One of my favorite things about living in Roanoke is discovering places that tell a story.

Originally built in 1909 as the Virginian Railway Passenger Station, this beautifully restored landmark has been given a new purpose while preserving so much of the history that makes it special.

One of my favorite parts was seeing how each space has its own feel—from the elegant event hall to the hidden speakeasy tucked right beside it. It was such a fun reminder that some of Roanoke’s most interesting places are the ones you might not know about yet.

It’s one of those places that reminds me just how much history and charm Roanoke has if you know where to look.

Have you been here before?

The Tudor homes we recognize today are actually part of the Tudor Revival movement—a style inspired by the charm and character of English country villages.

With their dramatic rooflines, decorative half-timbering, detailed masonry, and distinctive personalities, these homes are truly designed to stand apart.

Tudor Revival homes may be more than a century old, but their timeless character and unmistakable curb appeal still make them one of my favorite architectural styles to spot around Roanoke.

Are you a fan of Tudor-style homes?

Thank you kindly to Susan Bailey with Long & Foster for allowing me access inside this gorgeous home (which is still listed for sale as of the date of this post)!

Some places become part of a community’s story, and Katie’s Ice Cream is definitely one of them.

This was my very first job when I was 16 years old, so every visit brings back a lot of memories. More than 30 years later, Katie’s is still a Cave Spring favorite and one of my go-to spots on a hot summer day.

If you’re looking for a little summer treat, this place is always worth the stop.

Have you been to Katie’s this summer? And if you have a favorite flavor, I’d love to hear it! 👇

P.S. If you’re one of my LoLo members, don’t forget to use your Katie’s Ice Cream offer! And if you’d like to receive future perks from local businesses like this, send me a message and I’ll get you added.

Designed more than 300 years ago to withstand harsh New England winters, the Cape Cod has become one of America’s most enduring home styles.

With its steep roofline, symmetrical façade, and timeless simplicity, it’s easy to see why this classic design has remained popular for centuries.

Would you choose a Cape Cod, or is there another architectural style you love?

A huge thank you to Neil Conner from The Good Sign Real Estate Co. and to his sellers for allowing me access inside this Cape Cod beauty!

One of the most recognizable home styles in Roanoke is the American Foursquare.

Known for its square footprint, large front porch, and practical layout, it’s a design that’s remained popular for more than a century.

What home style should I feature next?

Thank you to Ruth Ann Cooper and Amber Mason with MKB, Realtors® and to their sellers for allowing me access to their beautiful listing at: 1901 Main St SW Roanoke VA 24015.

One thing I’ve been spending more time on lately: golf. ⛳️

What started as a personal challenge has quickly become something I genuinely look forward to each week. I love that it gets me outside, keeps me active, and reminds me that growth usually comes with a healthy dose of humility.

I’m still very much a beginner, but I’m learning that some of the most rewarding things are the ones you’re not immediately good at.

Here’s to showing up, improving a little at a time, and enjoying the process.
