As we close out Women’s History Month, it’s important to recognize and celebrate history being made right here in our own community.

Today, I want to honor REALTOR® Carla Evans for her service as the first Black female board member of the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS since its founding in 1921.

This milestone is more than a personal achievement—it represents progress, representation, and the continued breaking of barriers in an industry that shapes access to homeownership, wealth-building, and opportunity.

Carla’s leadership reflects the strength, resilience, and excellence that Women’s History Month stands for. Her presence at the table helps ensure that more voices are heard and more doors are opened for future generations of women—especially women of color—in real estate.
Let’s not just celebrate this moment—let’s build on it.
