Tips for those considering buying a home.

1. Live under your means and don’t be ashamed. Be proud that you can do more with less. Save that money for the down payment and to show mortgage companies that you can and have saved up money. That’ll be your down payment and/or emergency fund in the future.

2. Pay off as much debt (loans, credit cards, etc.) as possible so your income is higher than your debt.

3. Start thinking about what your needs and your wants are. Needs are non negotiable and wants are negotiable.

4. Be honest with yourself about your budget and what you can and cannot afford.

5. Research local programs and financial institutions to see what grants and or products each organization offers. This way you can make an informed decision in choosing what works best for you when the time comes.

6. Start declutterring and organizing to make it easier on packing and moving days.
