Q: What does this have to do with Bloomfield?

"We are now in an El Niño phase, when sea surface temperatures are warmer than usual. It will run through the spring; scientists predict the odds are that it will become a strong event.

“We know where El Niño generally brings more rain and more drought conditions up to six months ahead of time. Now we need to use this information to prevent millions of children from experiencing extreme hunger that will physically and cognitively scar them for the rest of their lives,” they write."

A: Food! Bloomfield and the surrounding areas contribute greatly to food and agricultural initiatives.

In our survey, from a little over a year ago, residents weighed in on the importance of agriculture to Bloomfield. Perhaps this offers an opportunity on how to "Grow Bloomfield" on the agricultural side in regard to "food deserts" and food shortages worldwide. Is there something that would be beneficial to the well-being of Bloomfield farmers and residents that also might impact upcoming potential disasters here and around the globe?
