We’re going to celebrate this “big one” all year!😀
A special “Happy Birthday” to a very special woman as she turns 100 years old.
Frances Masters of Chesterfield Township is a member of the Rosie the Riveters, a group of women to whom we are immensely grateful for their work in factories during World War II to help build bombers and make the United States the Arsenal of Democracy.
As a member of Congress before she became Macomb County’s public works commissioner, Candice Miller and U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell in March 2016 arranged and helped coordinate an honor flight for a group of 31 Original Rosies from Michigan to travel to Washington, D.C. During the one-day trip, the group attended a luncheon at the Library of Congress, visited the World War II Memorial and were photographed on the steps of the Capitol.
“It was truly an honor to meet and host those wonderful women who will forever remain a special group of heroes. We cannot thank them enough,” Miller said. “To Frances, thank you very much, and may you have many years ahead filled with love, happiness and good health!”
