Back in April I was hired to sell a house. The family needed to clean out their loved ones’ valuables and items they cherished. Unfortunately, most of the family lived over three hours away. The executor lived in Delaware. This was not easy for them. The house was being maintained by lawn crews, and I checked in a couple times a week to make sure everything was okay. Mid-to-late July I received approval to get the house cleaned out. I assisted in the clean out crew, carpet installation, house cleaner, carpet cleaning, power washing, prick paver repair and window cleaning. This started in the third week of July. I was told the family wanted the house to be gone by Labor Day weekend. Many things needed to happen very quickly.
I was able to get a photographer in and have the house listed by Thursday, August 20th. We had multiple showings and multiple offers. On Sunday we had 6 offers and I had to shut down showings. People wanted a house. There is still a shortage of houses. The house went for 25k over asking price and this was not the highest offer. The executor chose to go with the quickest closing and no inspection. This happened in 15 days with a mortgage from list date to close.
In the end the house closed on Friday, September 4th before Labor Day weekend.
