Can the people who work in our communities find housing that meets their needs?

That's an increasingly important question for the future of York, Lancaster and Chester Counties.

The Catawba Regional Workforce Housing Study is now complete, providing new data and resources examining housing conditions, workforce needs and opportunities throughout our region.

PRAR was proud to participate as a stakeholder in this important regional effort, helping bring the real estate perspective to the conversation.

Why does this matter?

Housing impacts much more than real estate. It affects:

What changed locally—and what should REALTORS® be watching next?

This week’s PRAR Local Government Watch has several important updates across our region.

Lancaster County’s major UDO rewrite has passed first reading. York County is beginning a new Comprehensive Plan that will guide growth through 2050. A 24-acre former Walmart property is up for a potentially significant commercial-to-industrial rezoning. Chester County will consider its 2026 millage rates, potential multifamily housing, and a 103-acre industrial rezoning. And Fort Mill has officially broken ground on its third fire station as infrastructure continues to respond to regional growth.

These decisions can affect housing supply, affordability, property taxes, private property rights, infrastructure, and future development.
