📱⚠️ PHONE SCAM ⚠️📱

Our office has received numerous reports of scam calls making the rounds in the area. These scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, so please remain vigilant.

Among the most prevalent recent reports are scammers pretending to be cryptocurrency investors. They are targeting vulnerable populations, especially the elderly, and seeking money from the individuals in the form of gift cards or other similar products.

Make no mistake. This is a scam. There is no world in which investors or anyone for that matter are taking gift cards as payment. If the caller feigns urgency or demands you stay on the phone, it’s definitely a scam. If you get such a call, please just hang up. If you want to give them a piece of your mind, we’re good with that, too. Just don’t give them money. Or gift cards. Or information.

Starting Monday, June 15th the Milam Appraisal District will be closed from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, to allow staff and Appraisal Review Board Personnel to take a lunch break between hearings.
