Just a friendly reminder to have your dryer vents cleaned out yearly. Especially after purchasing a home, you don’t know how often the previous owner had it cleaned or in this case, if they ever had it cleaned 🫣

(The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reports that dryers and washing machines cause an average of 15,970 fires each year, with dryers causing 92% of them and an average of $200 million in property damage.1 More specifically, electric dryers are shown to be more than 2.5 times more likely than gas dryers to cause fires due to the higher heat discharge from electric dryers which increases the problem of lint buildup. Dryer fire hazards typically originate from two places, dryer venting and the lint trap. More than one-third of the fires are attributed to a failure to clean and perform routine maintenance. This means that many of these fires are preventable)
