The Gathering Inn

The Gathering Inn We meet 500+ daily where they are, inspire hope + walk alongside on their journey to stable housing. Please visit our website for answers.

The Gathering Inn's mission is to meet people where they are, inspire hope, and walk alongside them on their journey to sustainable housing. In its 19th year of operation, TGI offers a complete continuum of housing and supportive services for homeless individuals: emergency housing; medical respite care; permanent supportive housing; external housing placement; comprehensive support services; educ

ation and training; and aftercare follow-up. Not only does The Gathering Inn exist to fulfill the original mission and vision of our founders, but it also builds on that foundation by expanding services that address barriers to housing. The lives of TGI guests are transformed by inspiring self-sufficiency and inviting them to achieve sustainable housing. At The Gathering Inn, we are committed to maintaining a space that is consistent with kindness, dignity, and respect for all especially the individuals we serve. We understand there are many questions regarding our Medical Respite Program. For questions not yet addressed there, we are collecting them and will post responses in an FAQ before the program opens. Comments that are unkind, disrespectful, or not aligned with our mission will be removed. Thank you for helping us keep this a space that reaches out and lifts up.

When someone leaves the hospital with serious medical needs and nowhere safe to recover, every day matters.

Our Medical Respite Program serves individuals experiencing homelessness who are referred by healthcare partners for a safe place to heal after hospitalization. Yet the need continues to exceed available space, with an average of nine individuals each month unable to access Medical Respite due to limited bed availability.

After leaving an abusive marriage, Tammy found herself experiencing homelessness while managing serious medical conditions. Following a hospitalization, she was referred to Medical Respite but had to wait for a bed to become available. When she finally arrived, she embraced the opportunity to focus on her health, reconnect with medical providers, and establish the stability needed to move forward.

Today, Tammy is housed in her very own apartment.

Her success is a testament to what can happen when healthcare providers, community partners, and supportive services work together to walk alongside individuals on their journey toward stability and independence.

Reflecting on her journey, Tammy shared:

"This is the first time in my adult life that I have been in a home that feels like I am truly part of a family. My stay at Medical Respite has been a time of healing, clarity, and growth. I am NOT giving that up!"

Congratulations, Tammy! We are honored to have walked alongside you on your journey to healing, hope, and housing.

๐ŸŒฎโค๏ธ Tacos AND community love?

That's the Wallentine Motorsports way.

At their recent taco event, the team organized a drive to support The Gathering Inn because in the VW community, it's never just been about the cars.

"Supporting The Gathering Inn was our way of giving back to the local community that supports all of us every day." โ€” Wallentine Motorsports

When Tanya arrived at The Gathering Inn, she was carrying two heavy burdens at once. Chronic pain from a past accident that never fully healed, and the weight of losing her home.

Anyone would have understood if she had given up. But Tanya did not.
She kept her medical appointments even on the hardest days. She stayed focused on her SSI claim and pursued every housing opportunity that came her way. She built trust with the people around her and showed up for herself with a consistency that is truly something to admire.

That kind of quiet determination is not always loud or dramatic. It does not always look like big leaps forward. Sometimes it looks like just getting up and trying again tomorrow. That is exactly what Tanya did, over and over again.

And today? Tanya has been approved for public housing and is getting ready to move into her very own apartment! A home of her own. Stability she has worked so hard for and a future she never stopped believing in.

Tanya your journey is a testament to what is possible when hope refuses to quit. You showed up for yourself every single day and this is just the beginning. The best is yet to come. ๐ŸŒŸ

When Shelese arrived at The Gathering Inn she was carrying more than just uncertainty about where she would sleep. She had been battling addiction for years and was separated from her daughter, who was staying with family while Shelese worked to find stability.

From the very beginning, there was something different about her approach.
She didnโ€™t wait. She didnโ€™t hesitate. Within just a few days, Shelese made the powerful decision to commit to her sobriety. She leaned into the support around her and took immediate action, connecting with resources through our community partners.

Just eight days after arriving, Shelese moved into a sober living home.

Eight days.

That kind of progress doesnโ€™t happen without courage, determination, and a deep desire for something more. She knows that this step is just the beginning. For Shelese, stability means more than housing. It means creating a life where she can be reunited with her daughter and build a future, she can be proud of.

As one of her case managers shared,
โ€œShe didnโ€™t just say she wanted change. She showed it in every step she took.โ€

Her journey is still unfolding, but her momentum is undeniable.
Itโ€™s a powerful reminder that with the right support, real change can happen.

On this Memorial Day, we remember. ๐Ÿ™

At The Gathering Inn, our mission has always been rooted in a simple truth: every person has dignity and worth. Today, we lift up those whose sacrifice gave all of us the gift of freedom.

We honor the men and women of our Armed Forces who laid down their lives so that others could live theirs fully. Their courage reminds us why we do what we do because people matter. Every single one.

"They gathered the courage to serve so we could gather in peace. We will not forget them."

To the Gold Star families who carry this loss every day you are not alone. To our veterans and active service members you are seen, you are valued, and you are welcome here.

This Monday, May 25th, may we pause to reflect on the true cost of freedom and recommit ourselves to serving those in our community who need us most. โค๏ธ

When David arrived, he had already spent over two years moving from place to place, doing his best to stay afloat.

There were obstacles at every turn, and at times, staying positive felt out of reach. But even in the middle of that uncertainty, David held on to something steady: the belief that his situation was not where his story would end.

He chose to keep going.

From the beginning, he approached his time in the program with intention. He stayed focused, worked consistently, and made the decision to save money, even when the path forward was not always easy or clear.

There were no shortcuts, just perseverance, discipline, and a quiet determination to build something better for himself.

Step by step, David began to move forward. Today, he has secured his own room and board and has transitioned into a place he can call his own. After years of instability, he now has something steady, something that belongs to him.

Music is medicine. There's something truly special about the way it brings people together.

This week, we were honored to welcome the Band of Angels from St. Luci's Church to The Medical Respite at The Gathering Inn. From sing-alongs and live music to shared conversations and smiles, they created a joyful and uplifting afternoon for our guests.

Moments like these remind us that healing is more than physical care โ€” it's connection, kindness, laughter, and community. Research shows that music reduces stress, lifts spirits, and strengthens our sense of belonging. We see that come to life every time the Band of Angels walk through our doors.

Thank you to the Band of Angels for sharing your time, talents, and hearts with our guests. We are so grateful for your partnership and already looking forward to their next monthly visit.

Do you have a favorite song that always lifts your spirits? Share it in the comments and help us thank the Band of Angels for the gift of music! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’›

Behind every meal delivered, every door opened, and every hand extended there's a partnership that made it possible. ๐Ÿค

At The Gathering Inn, we are blessed to walk alongside incredible community partners who share our belief that every person deserves dignity, hope, and a place to call home.

These partnerships aren't just transactions, they're relationships. They're businesses who show up. Neighbors who give. Organizations who believe that when we collaborate, we go further than we ever could alone.

This is how a community without homelessness becomes more than a vision. It becomes a movement. โœจ

One step at a time. That is how lives are rebuilt. ๐Ÿ’›

When Adriane came to us, she was carrying homelessness, recovery, and serious health challenges โ€” all at once. It would have been easy to feel crushed. Instead, she chose to keep going.

She shows up every day. She makes her appointments. She speaks honestly about what she needs. And slowly, steadily, she is rebuilding her life. Her case manager Myesha said it best: "She keeps showing up and doing the work, and that is where real change happens."

Steady is powerful. Steady is what transforms a hard season into a whole new life.

Adriane, your strength is quietly moving mountains. Keep going. ๐Ÿ’›

We all have a season that asked more of us than we thought we could give. What is one small step that helped you keep going? Share it below. Your words might be exactly what someone needs to hear today.
