Roseville opening cooling center due to excessive heat warnings

Due to excessive heat warnings issued by the National Weather Service, the City of Roseville is extending the hours at the Downtown Roseville Library Thursday, August 31 - September 4 to serve as a cooling center.

The Downtown Library will be open from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. these days.

Other city facilities are also open to help you stay cool during the heat. See the list below. Please follow these heat safety tips to remain healthy.

· Drink plenty of water (2-4 glasses of water every hour if you are physically active and out in direct heat).

· Wear lightweight, light colored loose fitting clothing as well as a hat and sunglasses when outdoors.

· Always apply sunscreen and limit exposure during mid-day.

· When participating in outdoor activities, do so with a buddy and pace yourself in the heat.

· Always monitors those at risk for heat related illnesses especially those on medications for heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. as they may be affected more by the heat.

· Never leave children, infants or pets inside vehicles.

· Provide pets with plenty of water and shade.

Rates have continued on an slight upward trend with the primary driving force being the European Central Bank’s monetary policy. Retail sales and consumer price forecasts however were less favorable than expected last week, having a positive impact on rates. Hopefully, we’ll see a trend change for the better this week.
