For the ones in the back!
REAL ESTATE AGENTS: Your Job Is NOT To Sell Homes
99% of agents think their job is to sell homes.
99% of consumers think that's your job too.
And that's exactly why consumers don't think you're worth the money.
But here's the truth.
Your job isn't to sell homes.
Your job is to help people.
Think about it.
Nobody wakes up one day and says, "I'm gonna buy or sell a home today for no reason."
There's always something bigger going on in their life.
A divorce.
A job transfer.
A growing family.
A downsizing.
An empty nest.
A business opportunity.
A life crisis.
The house isn't the problem.
The house is the solution to a bigger problem.
Buying or selling the home is just a byproduct of solving the real problem.
Most agents try to sell the home.
They pitch the home.
They show the home.
They talk about the home.
But the client doesn't care about the home.
They care about solving the problem that's forcing them to buy or sell.
So here's your actual job.
Identify the real problem someone is going through.
Understand what's driving their decision.
And then help them solve that problem by helping them buy or sell the home.
When you do that, you're not a salesman.
You're a helper.
You're a guide.
You're someone they trust.
And trust is worth way more than commission negotiation.
Here's your exercise.
Next time a prospect calls, don't ask about the home.
Ask about their life.
"Help me understand what's going on. Why are you thinking about moving?"
Then listen.
Don't pitch.
Don't sell.
Just listen and ask 5-10 more questions to help you understand the real problem.
Once you understand the problem, helping them becomes easy.
And they'll never forget the agent who actually cared about solving their problem instead of just closing a deal.
Stay focused my friends 🧡
