Progress report! October, 2016! The house was in bad shape. Bought as is. Attic full of asbestos. Small rooms like a rabbit hole. Dark rooms. Cracks in the walls. Ceilings were falling down. Old and moldie carpets... Between the asbestos removal and construction to remove a supporting wall ( the biggest costs), having new wood flooring for the first floor, and restoring the wide plank pine in the second floor, we didn't start renovating until late Feb., early March 2017.
June 2017, thanks to my wonderful husband, we were ready to move in. Toe Hold has become a pretty little swan and ecological! We were able to keep many original details, such as good solid wood doors and hardware, two staircases, all upstairs wide pine planks, etc. There are still a few more little things to do: painting shelves, doors, door k***s, and getting the garden tidied and productive...But it is a real pleasure to be here, in both the house and the town. I love this sweet old girl (Est. 1846).
Thank you, dearest Philip, for turning a decrepit and inhabitable house to one of the sweetest cottages by the sea, and in such a short time... I am very grateful! xoxoxoxo :)
