The Acropolis of Athens and The Parthenon

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens, Greece, and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. The word Acropolis is from the Greek words ἄκρον and πόλις.

The Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, that was dedicated to the goddess Athena during the fifth century BC. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of classical Greek art, an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, democracy and Western civilization. It has over 1000 years of history-to much to add. The Acropolis and the Parthenon and not one and the same where the high hilltop is give the name ‘The Acropolis’ and the building sitting on top of this hill is ‘The Parthenon’. Enjoy

Monemvasia-

The Castle Town of Monemvasia is among the most impressive places in Greece. Located on the southeastern side of Peloponnese, Monemvasia Greece was entirely carved on the backside of a sea rock in Medieval times. This huge sea rock is not visible from the mainland so that the locals could avoid enemy attacks. The only way to reach Monemvasia was by boat, while later on a paved pathway was constructed to connect the castle entrance to the mainland. This is how the name came out, meaning a single passage. A new town has been constructed on the mainland, just opposite the rock. A walk around the Castle Town is a travel to the past, while the sea view from the castle top is breathtaking.

The wind that day did not give up being there for the second time for me this has been the windiest day, but still a place to not pass by! They have many shops and little bars, coffee, places, and actually places that you can read the stay there. It was truly a very pleasant trip regardless of the wind. We actually saw someone climbing up the side of the mountain if I can find the picture, I will post it with more pictures after this post. Thank you and enjoy.
