Today, we remember the fallen — those brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and in defense of the freedoms we hold dear. Their sacrifice is a powerful reminder that liberty has never come without a cost.

We also remember the families they left behind — the spouses, parents, and especially the children who carry the weight of that loss for the rest of their lives. Memorial Day is not only about honoring those who died serving our nation, but also recognizing the deep sacrifices made by the families who continue living with their absence.

May we never take for granted the freedoms secured through their courage, selflessness, and ultimate sacrifice.
