In a recent inspection we had a laundry tub in the basement that was below the sewer line to the exterior. A basement laundry tub installed below the main sewer line cannot drain by gravity and requires a specialized utility sink pump system. This one is using a regular sump pump in a bucket and is not a recommended plumbing solution. An ejector pump is the correct solution. The pitch on this water heater is off. It should be 1/4 in per foot upwards not down.

Many inspections reveal a stairway light to the upper floors and or basement that is not working properly. A three-way light switch is what is needed on both ends, but also what is needed is the correct type of wiring. A 12-2 or 14-2 will not work and is the most common problem with inexperienced or amateurs. It must be a 12-3 or 14-3 wiring. 
A three-way switch circuit that controls two light fixtures (LT1 and LT2) from two different switch locations (SW1 and SW2). The power source enters at switch box SB1 through a two-wire cable (C1), connecting to the common terminal and travelers of the three-way switches via a three-wire cable (C2). The travelers (red and black wires) run between the two switches, allowing the current path to be altered depending on the switch positions. The switched power is then sent to the light fixtures using two-wire cables (C3 and C4), completing the circuit. Ground wires (green) are securely connected throughout for safety.

A typical Radon test by a home inspector ranges from $140 to $200 per test. If you are concerned that you might have Radon in your home, and or even have a radon mitigation system installed I would recommend an in-home monitor.

This may be interesting for most, homeowners.

Homemade laundry soap
Mix in pan on low heat
1 Cup - Castile soap graded on a cheese grater
4 Cups of very hot tap water
Add mixture into 5 gallon orange bucket with lid.
Add
1 Cup - Washing Soda
1 Cup - Borax
Stir slowly with a long handled wooden spoon for about two minutes
Top off the bucket with cold water, cover with lid and let it sit for 24 hours.
Makes one years worth of laundry soap. Use 1/2 cup per load.
