Why do people ignore red flags?

I don't think most people ignore them at all.

I think they explain them away.

"It's probably nothing."

"That can be fixed later."

"The seller said it's not a problem."

"I really love this kitchen."

The truth is, when we find something we want badly enough, we start looking for reasons it will work instead of reasons it won't.

That isn't just real estate. That's human nature.

The challenge is that houses don't care how badly we want them.

A roof leak is still a roof leak.

A water stain still has a story behind it.

A flickering light might be a simple bulb... or it might be something more.

The goal isn't to find a perfect house.

The goal is to understand what you're actually buying and make an informed decision before you commit.

Sometimes the house is speaking pretty clearly.

The question is whether we're listening.

What are people actually chasing?

The more I work in real estate, the more I realize most people are not truly shopping for a house.

They are searching for a feeling.

Some people want peace and quiet after years of chaos.
Some want space to finally breathe.
Some want land, a shop, a garage full of projects, or a kitchen where everyone gathers together.

Others just want the upstairs neighbors to stop stomping around at 2am.

And honestly… all of those reasons matter.

People love talking about square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms, and investment value.

But real estate is emotional, even when people pretend it is only math.

That is why some homes instantly feel right.
And others never do… even when the numbers make sense.

A house is rarely just a house.

Most of the time, people are searching for the life they hope comes with it.

Maybe the first step is understanding what matters most to you before you ever start searching.

Ever pulled into a car lot and felt like you got spotted by a pack of salesmen from a mile away? 😂
