Last night was one of the most meaningful nights of my life.

I officially graduated with my MBA, earning a 4.0 GPA, and walked my first academic stage ever outside of the military. I didn’t walk in high school, I went to a continuation school and nearly didn’t graduate. I also chose not to walk for my bachelor’s due to the location.

Over the last two years at William Jessup, I’ve been on an incredible journey, growing my business knowledge, deepening my biblical understanding, and most importantly, drawing closer to Jesus Christ. Learning to lead through Christ and bring faith into everyday business practices has been life-changing.

On top of that, my wife and I celebrated 9 years of marriage! We got married as kids and have grown into young adults together. She has been with me every step of this journey, supporting, encouraging, and believing in me when I needed it most.

I am so proud to have her by my side.

Grateful for this chapter, for growth, and for the people who make the journey worthwhile.

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨

With summer quickly coming to an end (we see you stormy weather 😏), we wanted to highlight one last water spot before fall settles in 🌊☀️ Lake Natoma.

This one’s always been a go-to for dropping our yaks. Not only is it beautiful and always a good time, but it’s also super convenient… no freeway driving necessary 🙌🚗 We’ve always launched at Black Miner’s Bar, specifically at the Lake Natoma Northern Boat Ramp, but we’ve heard the Nimbus side is a vibe too.

Lake Natoma is a fantastic place for kayaking 🚣‍♀️, paddle boarding 🏄‍♂️, and even a little cliff jumping if you’re up for it. And if you’re feeling really brave, you can jump off the bridges like Brian used to back when he was an invincible teenager 😅💪🏼

Pro Tip: Hit the water after work for a sunset session 🌅✨ It’s always a party on the lake and the sunsets on the water are not to be matched.

Have you been to Lake Natoma lately? Where’s your favorite launch spot? Drop it below 👇👇👇

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨

With a few new Nugget stores opening up lately, we thought there’d be no better time to highlight why this local family ran grocery store is way more than your average market 🛒

Nugget’s been around since 1926, and they’ve built that special “European marketplace meets chef kitchen” vibe that makes every visit feel elevated and easy.

The fresh food section is next level. Pizza 🍕, sushi 🍣, craft coffee and smoothies ☕🥤, artisan sandwiches 🥪, salad and soup bar 🥗🥣, a bakery with pastries that melt in your mouth 🥐, and more.

Here’s how we fuel the day. Acai bowl for breakfast (iykyk 🧺), specialty coffee if you need a pick me up, maybe a sandwich with a macaron or two for lunch, and sushi or pizza if we’re keeping it mellow in the evening. Also, their to-go aisle is fully stocked with grab and go meals, dips, fruit and cheese packs, and ready made combos. Total game changer on a busy day.

Pro Tip: If you have time, check out their pre-marinated meats in the butcher section 🍖 You’re welcome.

What’s your favorite thing to grab at Nugget? Drop your go to below 👇👇👇

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨

Who doesn’t love Taco Tuesday? 🌮 We love Los Cabos in Roseville any day of the week, but Tuesdays are extra good because you get three street tacos for $7.99.

Fun fact: Annie’s been coming here since middle school. Her woodshop teacher built them a custom guitar so cool they named a burrito after him, and the guitar is still hanging on the wall all these years later. 🎸

Our go-to bites: Al Pastor tacos with extra lime and a side of rice and beans 🌮, a Duane’s burrito 🌯, or the chorizo breakfast burrito with potatoes 🥔🍳

Pro Tip: Don’t stress about taking it to go. They’re super fast with call-ahead orders, and the food travels well 🥡✨

What’s your go-to Mexican or Taco Tuesday spot? Drop it below? We’re always looking for recommendations 👇👇👇

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨

Back to school season might be here, but if you’re like us and you’re not ready to let go of summer just yet, you may want to check out Bullards Bar in Camptonville (about an hour from the Galleria) 🌞
It’s great for swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking, but in our opinion it really shines for water sports like boating, wakesurfing, and tubing. The turquoise water here is unreal and makes every photo look like you’re somewhere tropical 🏝️🚤

Bullards is also awesome for camping and fishing. If you’re into fishing, Kokanee salmon are a big draw here, along with bass and trout. There are also plenty of hiking and biking trails around if you want to mix it up 🎣🏕️

We spent our day searching for rope swings, fishing, soaking in the views, and seeing how many flips Brian could do off the dock 🪢🌊

Pro Tip: If you’re interested, check out their rentals for houseboats and regular boats. Perfect if you want to make it a full weekend on the water 🚤🏠

We’re still on the hunt for the best places to kayak, so tell us your go-to places 👇👇👇

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨
If you’re ever looking for something chill to do on a Saturday morning, the Midtown Farmers Market is such a good move 🌞🛍️
It’s every Saturday from 8 to 1 and stretches through several blocks of Midtown with tons of local vendors, food trucks, produce stands, handmade goods, and live music 🎶🍓🧼🫐🎨
We usually grab breakfast from a food truck 🍳, stock up on whatever produce is in season 🥬🍑🍒, and pick up new spices from Pawpa Flavor 🌶️. Annie’s go-to is the fresh matcha from K&K Chai 🍵💚, and we always grab a bag of cinnamon almonds from Debbie’s German Delights 🤎. A lemonade from Farmstand Lemonade is basically required when it’s hot out 🍋☀️😎
Some weeks we go just to walk around and hang out 💬👟. Not even trying to shop, just enjoying the music and the energy 👫🎷🧺
Pro Tip: Bring your own bag 👜 and show up on the earlier side if you want the best selection 🛒🌿
Been lately? What’s your go-to market stop 👇👇👇

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨
Another week, another local gem. This time we’re in Auburn checking out Ikeda’s and if you’ve been, you already know.
It’s part “orchard to fork” pie bakery, part gourmet market, part restaurant, and somehow nails all three.
We grabbed a tasty burger, a western burger, a banana cream pie (Annie’s favorite), and a peach cobbler. Everything was so good 🍔🥧🍟🥤
Inside, you’ll find fresh produce, pastries, breads, frozen meals, dry goods... kind of like a smaller Whole Foods but local and way more fun.
Pro Tip: If you’re heading to Truckee, make this your food stop. Grab a pie for later, a frozen dinner for the week, or something hot to eat right there.
Next up on our list are their breakfast burritos and chicken pot pie.
Been to Ikeda’s? What’s your go-to pie flavor? Drop it below 👇👇👇

✨Local Tip Tuesday✨
Sugar Pine Reservoir is officially one of our favorite kayaking spots.
It’s great for kayaking (obvi), paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping — all the goods. Now this is a plus for us but might be a downfall for you: boats can only go up to 10 mph. For us, no wake means no stress.
We were basically the only ones on the water, just cruising through little coves with glassy, calm views in every direction. The water was perfect — refreshing but not freeze-your-butt-off cold like Lake Natoma (iykyk).
There are two ways to get there — through Foresthill or Colfax. We took one on the way in and one on the way back, and trust us, Foresthill is the move. The Colfax route has tons of winding roads and switchbacks that made the drive feel a little rough. Peep the timelapse.
Pro Tip: Pack a picnic and plan to stay awhile. It’s definitely one of the smaller water spots we’ve been to, but it’s perfect for peace and quiet (on a weekday, at least).
Let us know where we should take the yaks next. We’re trying to hit somewhere new every week this summer 👇👇👇
