Tareen Development Partners has acquired Afton View Apartments, a 286-unit affordable housing community in St. Paul, MN.

As Dr. Basir Tareen, CEO and founder of TDP, said, preserving communities like Afton View is vital for our city’s stability. We’re committed to reinvesting in quality, affordable homes for residents.

We’re excited for the 2026 rehabilitation of this property. This acquisition would not have been possible without the support of our valued partners: Bridgewater Bank, Winthrop & Weinstine, the City of Saint Paul - Government, and Stewart Title.

UND alum Dr. Basir Tareen has a strong connection to his alma mater and North Dakota. Along with his wife, Dr. Mohiba Tareen, the Tareen family donated $5 million to create a Department of Dermatology at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Dr. Mohiba Tareen’s practice, Tareen Dermatology, is dedicated to expanding access to care, and this gift will help develop clinical programs and train future dermatologists for the region.

The special announcement was held on Dr. Basir Tareen’s birthday, making the day both a heartfelt celebration and a gesture of gratitude to the community that shaped him. This donation honors the Tareen family’s legacy of medical service in and aims to improve and specialty care for future generations.

We joined forces with the amazing team at Tareen Dermatology to make blankets for My Very Own Bed, a Twin Cities nonprofit that delivers beds and linens to children moving into stable housing. The was founded in 2014 and serves children ages 2-17 in the and surrounding suburbs.

We’re appreciative of the coverage we have received for our proposed projects in The City Of Ann Arbor - Government and The City of East Lansing. Both developments are currently proceeding through the land use approval process and are intended to help address significant housing needs in each city. We look forward to partnering with local leaders and stakeholders to ensure these important projects happen.

Built in 2006, Wyngate is an affordable housing community with 50 two-story townhome units. Each home features 3 or 4-bedroom layouts, private entries, open floor plans, in-home laundry, and heated underground parking. As part of the Section 42 program, Wyngate offers income-restricted housing in a thriving and convenient Maplewood location near Maplewood Mall and the Ramsey County Library.

We're excited to welcome Mara Gallagher as our new Controller at Tareen Development Partners! Mara brings over a decade of finance and accounting experience to TDP. Before joining the team, she was Director of Finance at the Animal Humane Society.

Outside of work, Mara is a mom to four kids and a dog mom to Mac. As a former competitive gymnast, she enjoys coaching and cheering on her daughter's team. Her sons keep the family busy with baseball and football, and in her spare time, Mara loves golfing with her husband and traveling as a family.
