This month is a great opportunity to learn from one another, celebrate different traditions, and recognize the many ways Hispanic and Latino cultures enrich our communities.

Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Perfect for: school snacks, lunchboxes, or a quick grab-and-go breakfast

Ingredients:

2 cups old-fashioned oats
½ cup peanut butter or almond butter
⅓ cup honey or maple syrup
1 mashed ripe banana
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
½ cup mini chocolate chips
½ cup dried cranberries or raisins
¼ cup chopped nuts or seeds (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper.
Mix the oats, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
Stir in the mashed banana, peanut butter, honey, and vanilla.
Fold in the chocolate chips, dried fruit, and nuts.
Press the mixture firmly into the pan.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
Let them cool completely before cutting into bars.

💡 Kid-approved twist: Let the kids pick their own add-ins! Try mini M&M's, coconut, blueberries, sunflower seeds, or white chocolate chips.

With temperatures soaring, it’s important to remember that our furry friends feel the heat, too! 🐾 When taking your dog for a walk, try to go during the early morning or evening hours, bring plenty of water, and avoid hot pavement that can burn their paws. Never leave pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes. A little extra care can help keep our four-legged friends happy, healthy, and cool all summer long! 🐶
