Small towns are charming and distinctive because local business owners are willing to take big personal and financial risks. They create the places that give a town its identity and help shape lasting memories for all.
Recently, the owners of the historic Coleman Building which houses Miners Pizza + Pasty Co. and other local businesses decided to sell the building and there were other interested parties which may or may not have been as supportive of owner Ashley Evans as the current owners have been. We are supporting Ashley’s effort to purchase the building.
Ashley and her family have been part of this community for generations. She works tirelessly, gives generously and has spent years supporting local causes, events, schools, organizations and small businesses. She is exactly the kind of person we hoped would step forward to care for a historic building and carry its legacy into the future.
While Ashley already has the funds to close, I think it would be amazing for us as a community to relieve the financial stress on her family of this unexpected and very necessary purchase. Let’s show up for her the way she has always shown up for us so many times by helping her to raise additional funds. She would never ask for herself so I’m asking. I’m also contributing.
One way to help is by purchasing gift cards directly from Miners Pizza + Pastry Co. Buy them for future meals, birthdays, holidays, employee gifts or community events. She makes way more than pizza. Freezer casseroles, treats, deserts, she does catering, you name it. I am not asking people to give without receiving something in return. Please just keep her in mind in your purchasing plans.
Supporting this gift-card effort is about more than pizza and pastries. It is about supporting a hardworking local small business owner and placing the Coleman Building’s legacy in very capable hands. No one is more deserving or would be more grateful.
