Thinking about making the move to Westchester? Come spend a day with us. 🚆🏡

One of the best ways to figure out where you want to live is to experience the towns for yourself. I often pick clients up right at the train station and spend the day showing them what makes each community unique—from schools and neighborhoods to country clubs, downtowns and all the little details you can’t get from an online search.

You can research Westchester all day long, but there’s nothing like actually walking around, exploring the neighborhoods and getting a feel for the lifestyle.

Come up for a day—or even half a day—and let’s find the town that feels like home. Reach out, I’d love to help.

Thinking about selling your Westchester home? Before you ask, “What’s my house worth?” there may be an even more important question:

Where am I going next?

Selling a home isn’t just a transaction. It’s a series of decisions. From timing and preparation to pricing, staging, marketing, negotiating, and eventually, figuring out what happens to all that stuff you’ve accumulated over the years!

In my latest blog, I walk through the selling process step by step, including what I recommend doing before your home ever hits the market, where it makes sense to invest (and where it may not), and why preparation can make such a difference.

If selling your Westchester home may be in your future (even if you’re not quite ready yet) this is a great place to start.

As a listing agent, something I always emphasize to my clients is the importance of staging. A thoughtfully prepared, decluttered home ensures buyers can envision themselves in your space.

Before you open your doors to prospective homeowners, here are a few things I recommend putting out of sight:

🧼 Personal bathroom items: Toiletries, waste baskets, bathmats and cleaning supplies. Keep things simple; buyers want to see a show home.

🥣 Everyday kitchen items: Pots, pans, dish soap, countertop appliances and other functional items can distract from the kitchen itself. Clear countertops to make the room feel more spacious.

🧺 Laundry items: Detergent, softeners, and dryer sheets should all be tucked away so buyers can focus on the room and storage.

🧸 Pet supplies: Remove litter boxes, food bowls, toys and other pet items. A subtle, cozy reminder of your pet is fine—the well-loved chew toy can sit this one out.

🎨 Bold paint or wallpaper: It’s difficult for buyers to see past strong colors or outdated designs. A soft white or neutral palette creates a fresh backdrop and presents a blank canvas to the buyer.

Staging can make prospective buyers have a more meaningful experience with your home. That’s why I work closely with sellers to provide decluttering and staging services. If you need help preparing your house for market, reach out.

What’s the best town in Westchester? Is there a right answer to this question?! Nope!

It’s more about finding what town is BEST for YOU. What exactly are you looking for? Is it access to the beach? Is it access to a large backyard? Proximity to an urban center? Or maybe a charming Hallmark-esque downtown?

From there, we can narrow it down and find the right house in the right town. It’s not about what I think of all of the wonderful towns Westchester has to offer – it’s about how it is going to fit into your lifestyle.

Try before you buy. Come up to spend the day with me and Caroline Howard! Walk around and get a feel for the vibe. If you’re thinking about moving to Westchester and want to hear from a local, reach out. We'd love to help you figure out which town is right for you.

My clients often ask me which Westchester communities I recommend. My answer: it depends on your lifestyle.

Do you want to live near a walkable downtown? How often will you commute to Manhattan? Are top-rated schools a priority for you?

Every community offers something different, which is why I encourage buyers to think beyond square footage and price.

🏡 Thinking about moving to Westchester? Don’t start with the house.

Before you focus on bedrooms, square footage, or finishes, think about how you actually want to live.

How often will you commute to Manhattan? Do you want to walk to restaurants, cafés, or the train? Are schools, parks, or access to the waterfront important? Would you rather have a lively downtown nearby or a quieter residential neighborhood?

Every Westchester community offers something a little different, and no single town checks every box. I’ve found that once buyers identify what matters most in their day-to-day lives, it becomes much easier to narrow down the communities—and ultimately the homes—that are right for them.

If you’re considering relocating to Westchester, start with your lifestyle. Then start looking at houses.
