❄️ It’s Cold Outside… No, I Really Mean COLD ❄️

As of 3:00 AM it’s 3 degrees, and today’s high is only 15 degrees. That matters — because at these temps, salt is NOT your magic fix.
Here’s the real-world breakdown:
🌡️ Temperature Effectiveness of Rock Salt
• 32°F to 20°F (0°C to -6°C): Works well, normal amounts needed
• 20°F to 15°F (-6°C to -9°C): Sluggish, needs more salt
• Below 15°F (-9°C): Poor to useless — other chemicals or traction aids (like sand) are needed

So if you’re wondering why the ice isn’t melting… it’s not your salt guy’s fault. It’s Mother Nature.
🚗 Bottom line:
Be careful out there. Slow down. Watch your step. And please understand that salt will NOT melt ice or snow at these temperatures.

❄️ Winter Weather 101: How Well Does Rock Salt Really Work?
Ever wonder why you can dump a ton of salt on your driveway and still be skating around like a penguin? 🐧 Here’s the real deal on how rock salt performs as temperatures drop:
🔹 32°F to 25°F (0°C to -4°C)
Rock salt is in its sweet spot. Melts ice fast and works great.

🔹 25°F to 20°F (-4°C to -6°C)
Still does the job, but it needs a heavier application and a little more time.
🔹 20°F to 15°F (-6°C to -9°C)
Now it’s getting sluggish. Melting slows way down and patience is required.
🔹 Below 15°F (-9°C)
Rock salt is basically on strike. ❌
At this point, you’re mostly just adding traction—more like gravel than ice melt. Dumping more salt won’t help much.
💡 Pro tip: When it’s brutally cold, consider switching to a low-temperature ice melt or sand for traction instead of wasting salt.

As we approach the incoming snowstorm, please take a moment to keep a few key points in mind:
• High-Intensity Snowfall: Large storms can produce heavy, fast-falling snow, often referred to as whiteout conditions. Several inches may accumulate in a very short time.

• Reduced Visibility & Wind: Strong winds can further reduce visibility and quickly cover areas that have already been cleared.

• Continuous Effort: Clearing snow during these conditions is similar to drying a car in a rainstorm — the snow will return quickly. Our snow crews will be working diligently throughout the storm to keep lots and walkways safe, prioritizing entry points and high-traffic areas.

• Snow Piles & Relocation: Sites experiencing the highest totals will see multiple snow piles, and some locations may require haul-off or onsite relocation once the event ends.

Ultimate LawnPros LLC is looking for 1099 Sidewalk Snow Contractors for the upcoming snow season:
JOB DESCRIPTION: Ultimate, commercial maintenance and snow and ice removal, seeks people to clear sidewalks for the winter season. This position involves clearing snow and ice at various business locations during and after snow events. Late night, early morning and weekend work are required, depending on the timing of snowfalls. Applicants must be available from the onset of each snowfall until the conclusion of tasks. Employment could lead to a summer position if desired.

QUALIFICATIONS:
No need to know how to shovel snow or use a snow blower, we will teach you.
Strong work ethic who are responsible and responsive when snow falls.
Must have reliable transportation
Pay: $18.00 - with a 4-hour minimum

All hand equipment and materials will be supplied.
We offer a 4-hour minimum per event but must be available from the onset of each snowfall until the conclusion of each event.
Late night, early morning and weekend work is required, depending on the timing of the snowfalls.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
