Wire fraud is one of the fastest-growing threats in real estate—especially during closings. 💸 Scammers are targeting buyers, sellers, and agents by impersonating title companies, lenders, or attorneys to redirect funds.
🚨 How It Happens:

You receive an email or text with “updated wiring instructions” 📧
The message looks legitimate (logo, signatures, names) ✅
BUT it’s a hacker trying to redirect your closing funds to their account ❌

Once money is wired, it’s often gone for good 😟
🛡️ How to Protect Yourself (and Your Clients):
✅ Always verify wiring instructions verbally
📞 Call your title company or attorney using a known phone number (not from the email!)
✅ Never trust last-minute changes
⏰ Wiring instructions should NOT change right before closing
✅ Educate all parties early
👩‍💼👨‍💼 Inform buyers and sellers about fraud risks at contract signing
✅ Use secure communication
🔒 Utilize encrypted portals when available instead of email
✅ Double-check email addresses
🔍 Scammers often use addresses that look almost identical
✅ Confirm before you send
