If you’re getting your home ready for the market, don’t overlook the little things. They make a HUGE difference.
Deep clean the home. Pressure wash the house and driveway. Touch up paint. Clean the windows. Clean up the yard. Pick up the doggie p**p 🐶💩. Have a vinyl fence? Pressure wash that thing too. Wooden fence missing a piece or broken? Fix it. It’s easy, quick and cheap.
And odors… let’s talk about odors. Pets, cooking, incense, ci******es, weed… deal with them. Buyers notice the SECOND that door opens. You may not notice it anymore because you’re used to it. My job is to tell you, so please don’t get offended, someone has to! 😂 This is a business of honesty, especially when my job is to get you top dollar.
And ci******es? Oh boy. Never, ever, ever smoke inside your house if you can help it. Cigarette smoke will absolutely negatively affect how buyers perceive your home and what they’re willing to pay.
Keep your home CLEAN and showing-ready every day. Your next buyer may be walking through that door today. And it all starts in those first few seconds — the walk up, the front door, the smell, the feeling. Everything else comes after that.
It’s kind of like dating. 😂 How do you think your wife fell in love with you? Or your husband? I doubt you showed up to that first date right after yard work. You cleaned up, looked good and smelled good, didn’t you? THEN you started focusing on the red flags. ❌️🚩 😂
Same with a house. First you need those goosebumps.
Yes, there are bigger things to consider — condition, repairs, pricing, competition — and we’ll deal with all of those. But never underestimate the basics.
I can make your home look AMAZING online, but once I open that front door, the home has to take it from there.
