Irene Arriola Real Estate - ONE Sotheby's International Realty St Augustine Real Estate Business IRENE ARRIOLA has practiced real estate full-time in St Augustine and St Johns County for over 21 years.

From the outset she recognized the unique aspects and free-spirited nature of the area, and so associated herself with independent owned and operated firms like ONE Sotheby's International Realty that had the flexibility and imagination to meet the challenges of providing top-notch services for such a community and its consumers. The result of this personal business plan has consistently placed Ir

ene among the top five producers in the county. Her marketing skills have put her services and her properties at the top of nearly everyone's list, and her talent for turning a phrase and bringing descriptions to vibrant life has taken print advertising to the level of art. Not one to take without giving back, Irene is generous with her community service. She provides the Council on Aging with pro-bono representation on a regular basis. From time to time she acts as Realtor for the City of St Augustine as well. She is also Secretary for the St Johns Housing Partnership. In addition, she pens the popular Downtown Neighbors column for the St Augustine Record. Irene has been chosen by her community Realtor of the Year three times, and her proudest achievement remains the O.E. Barnes Humanitarian Service Award presented by her peers. Irene has the distinct honor of being chosen ten times by the residents of St. Augustine as a “Five Star Real Estate Professional.” Respondents were asked to consider real estate agents they knew through personal experience and to evaluate them based on the following criteria: Customer service, direct and honest communication, finding the "perfect" home, integrity, effective negotiation skills, marketing efforts, industry and market knowledge, dedication and overall satisfaction. These are, in fact, the suite of skills that Irene has become widely known for commanding. The daughter of a former ballerina with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and of a journalist with El Dia in Mexico City, Irene has spent much of her life immersed in music, dance, poetry and prose. Married to a musician and songwriter, she also acts as his agent and creative muse.

While Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free, its meaning resonates deeply here in St. Augustine.

In the heart of Lincolnville and throughout our city, brave individuals stood on the front lines of the Civil Rights Movement, peacefully protesting injustice and helping shine a national spotlight on inequality. Their courage, alongside the work of local leaders, students, clergy, and families, helped St. Augustine become an important chapter in the story of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom has often come through perseverance, sacrifice, and the determination of ordinary people willing to stand for what is right.

On June 18, 2026, a powerful piece of history will be remembered right here in St. Augustine.

The 13th Annual Commemoration of the Largest Mass Arrest of Rabbis in U.S. History, presented by the St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society, honors a defining moment in the Civil Rights Movement, when sixteen rabbis were arrested in 1964 for standing in peaceful protest against segregation, discrimination, and violence.

Held at the St. Johns County Jail Annex, this annual reading brings to life the words written from inside those jail walls. Among them: a letter from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to Rabbi Israel Dresner, and the collective voice of the rabbis themselves, written during their incarceration.

Their actions were not symbolic alone. They helped create real change. Within hours of their arrests gaining national attention, the filibuster blocking the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was broken, moving the nation closer to what our Constitution calls “a more perfect Union.”

This year’s program also offers the opportunity to experience the Mobile Museum of Tolerance. This immersive, interactive exhibit is designed to engage visitors in meaningful conversations around the Holocaust, the Civil Rights Movement, and the ongoing impact of hate and bias. Inside, history is not just observed. It’s felt, explored, and carried forward. Learn more about it at mmot.com.

Some moments in history do not simply belong to the past, they continue to shape who we are and who we strive to become.

On Wednesday, June 17 at 6 pm, the community is invited to the world premier of "When the Rabbis Came to Town", a powerful stage performance presented by the St. Augustine Film Society honoring Rabbi Allen Secher, the sole surviving rabbi from the largest mass arrest of rabbis in American history.

In June 1964, sixteen rabbis traveled to St. Augustine after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called upon Jewish clergy to stand in solidarity with the Civil Rights Movement and challenge segregation. Their arrest during protests became a pivotal moment in our city’s history as a testament to courage, conviction, and the power of collective action in the face of injustice.

Held at The Waterworks, this moving event remembers not only the rabbis who stood for civil rights, but also St. Augustine’s vital role in a movement that changed the nation.
