š« āNo HOAs, please!ā š«
Iāve heard this more than a few times lately from buyersātotally understandable. HOA fees can feel like just another monthly bill. But hereās a perspective many havenāt considered:
š” For townhomes, an HOA often adds value. Think lawn care, snow removal, exterior maintenance (yesāeven siding and roofs!). These are major costs that can sneak up on you as a homeowner. Having them covered simplifies budgeting and reduces surprise expenses.
š³ For single-family homes, a well-managed HOA can actually protect your property value. I recently listed a stunning homeāperfect landscaping, impeccable curb appeal, true pride of ownership. But the neighboring homes? Unmowed lawns, mismatched fences, and one next door looked like a tire shop exploded in the driveway. š¬
My sellerās beautiful home was competing with all of that.
So while HOAs can be strict at times, they can also be the reason your neighborhood (and your investment) stays strong.
š Food for thought as you house huntāHOAs arenāt one-size-fits-all, but sometimes theyāre worth a second look.
