Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the incredible love, care, prayers, meals, messages, grace, and support you have extended to me and my family during the passing of my father. We have felt carried by the kindness of so many.
My dad’s Celebration of Life was exactly the kind of party he would have planned for himself — full of stories, laughter, love, food, drinks, and the people he loved most. While there was deep sadness woven throughout the day, there was also an overwhelming sense of pride, admiration, and honor as we celebrated such a wonderful man and the life he lived.
The next day was my birthday, and although it was difficult to celebrate, I chose to spend a quiet evening at home with Rob, Logan, and Lexi over a simple meal. After months of chaos leading up to my dad’s passing, the peace and quiet were deeply welcomed.
I was finally able to sit down and read through so many of the beautiful notes and messages left for me here. Please know I read every single one, and they brought me tremendous comfort. Thank you for taking the time to share your memories, prayers, encouragement, and love with me.
This Sunday was the first church service I had been able to attend since losing my dad, and as always, the message felt perfectly timed for this season of grief. One of the wise founding fathers of CCC, Jim Nicodem, called it “Thank You Therapy.” In life, during the trials and tribulations that bring sadness, anxiety, anger, or unease, it is often when we are most vulnerable that we must turn ourselves toward prayer, reflection, and gratitude.
Gratitude for waking up another day.
For a warm bed.
For healthy children.
For family.
For memories.
For laughter shared.
For time we were given.
For every person who showed grace when I wasn’t at my best.
For every prayer spoken over our family.
For every meal dropped off.
For every text, hug, kind word, and act of love.
It is because of all of you that I have made it through these past few months.
Thank you again. I am forever grateful. 🤍
