Golf in southern Utah is something else.

Red rock backdrops, green fairways, blue skies for days — St. George might be the most underrated golf destination in the country. Between Sand Hollow, Coral Canyon, Entrada, and Sky Mountain, we’re spoiled for choice out here.

There’s something about teeing off with sandstone cliffs on one side and Pine Valley Mountain on the other that you just don’t get anywhere else. This is why people fall in love with life in southern Utah — it’s not just the golf, it’s everything around it.

Fall starts later here than it does up north. I always get excited to finally wear a jacket, then by 2pm I’m peeling it off again. Every year I fall for it.

But honestly, fall in St. George is one of the best times of year. We get a couple extra months of lake days and swimming while everyone else is packing it in for the year. Nothing beats watching early season football and then jumping straight in the pool.

And the community stuff makes it even better. Farmers markets you can actually linger at, concerts in the park that don’t leave you drenched, evening walks with the family, cooking and eating outside, fall festivals without needing five layers just to stay warm.

This is why I’ll never leave St. George.

Zion right nearby. Snow Canyon feels like our own backyard. Lake Powell and Quail Lake give us endless days on the water, wakesurfing, paddle boarding, just soaking it in. Add in miles of mountain biking trails, hiking right out our front door, and red rock views wherever you look, and it’s easy to see why so many families end up staying here for good.

We get to trade screen time for sunshine. Trade a commute for a trailhead. Trade waiting for summer vacation for living it, all year round.

This is the life St. George gives our family, and I don’t take a single bit of it for granted.
