It’s not hard to understand why so many people are falling in love with St. George.

This year, St. George ranked among the top 10 fastest-growing metros in the country and honestly, I’m not surprised. Yes, our summers can be hot, but then you remember that Zion is right in our backyard, red rock stretches in every direction, and there are endless opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beauty around us.

Utah is taking another step toward addressing one of the biggest challenges facing our communities: housing affordability.

The state has launched a new Division of Housing and Community Development focused on getting more homes built, coordinating resources, and helping communities address their local housing needs.

One of the biggest goals? Helping facilitate 35,000 starter homes by 2028 so that more young families, teachers, first responders, and working Utahns can afford to live in the communities they serve.

Housing is such an important part of the future of Southern Utah, especially as our communities continue to grow. More homes, thoughtful planning, and infrastructure that keeps pace with that growth will all play a role in maintaining the quality of life we love here.
