Housing history!

Mary Tyler Moore never stayed in the Victorian at 2104 Kenwood Parkway shown in The Mary Tyler Moore Show—but you can.

Late last year, the home’s owners opened their beloved house, known as the Moore House, as an event space and vacation rental.

They see the eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom house (which also boasts a massive hosting kitchen; an office and gym; yard space; and three family rooms, including a retro-inspired one with nods to the show, right where her apartment would have been upstairs) as a perfect spot for an intimate event or an entire wedding weekend, complete with partners like D’Amico catering.

For only the second time in the Red Cross’ history has it Called a Blood Crisis Emergency. If you can give blood,
please do. The shortage is real and if is impacting friends, family and all around us in need of blood and blood products.

Our next drive is one week away and is taking place next Friday on August 7th at Edgcumbe Rec Center from 9 am to 3:00 pm. We currently are at 67 percent occupancy. We have 15 donor slots remaining to fill. Please help those battling cancer, find themselves within an accident on the road, born with a genetic condition which requires transfusion, a transplant patient or simply a stranger in need today.
Pay it forward today in ways others may for
you.

The last sentence of the previous paragraph is why I do these drives. My spouse had more transfusions over her lifetime than I could count. I miss her each and every day. She had type one diabetes, she endured and was blessed with four transplants and she passed away at age 43 now 12 years ago. I myself cannot give blood but I remember being grateful, at times taking for granted the blood supply and the false narrative in my head, that whenever she needed a transfusion it would be readily available. As the years progressed and her antibodies became greater it became harder and harder to find a match that would work that would instill the energy she needed thru a transfusion.

Today, we are in crisis. Please spare an hour on August 7th and let’s get this drive to 100 percent occupancy. Not available on the 7th find another drive and donate as soon as you are able. Thank you for being a hero to others in the past and please do so again!

There are few better ways to experience Saint Paul than by bicycle.

This weekend we left the Hamline neighborhood and started our morning with breakfast crepes on Grand Avenue before enjoying the effortless ride downhill through some of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods. We stopped at Irvine Park where the fountain, historic homes, and a family photo session reminded us why this little corner of Saint Paul continues to feel timeless.

From there we followed Shepard Road into Lowertown and arrived at the Saint Paul Farmers Market. We stocked up on purple sweet potatoes, fresh blueberries, and beautiful beets before taking advantage of the new free bicycle parking and tune up station. Being able to safely park our bikes, carry our market finds, and then explore the neighborhood on foot made the experience even better.

Inside the market there was plenty to discover, but one of the highlights was wandering along the historic Northern Warehouse. A few artist studios had their doors open and the sound of an acoustic jam floated through the building. It was a quiet reminder that this district still has a creative heartbeat.

After watching so many artists displaced during the years from 2018 through 2021, it was encouraging to see signs of life returning. The art community helped shape the identity of Lowertown, and there is something special about seeing new roots beginning to grow. We hope this creative energy continues to build and that artists once again find a thriving home here.
