Robyn and Michelle both had the incredible opportunity to attend the American Land Title Association ALTA One Conference in New York City this past week. This is the country's premier title convention, bringing together title agents, underwriters, and experts from across the nation. Special speakers included business expert and Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran and SNL alum Rachel Dratch, both speaking about their paths to success and sharing tips on working with your teams.

There were also other workshops covering important topics like fraud prevention strategies, ways to incorporate AI into the title industry, marketing, and customer service. We can't wait to take what we learned in the Big Apple and apply it to our business in small town Nebraska!

On a side note, our office will be closed tomorrow in observance of Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day. We'll be back in the office on Tuesday.

This past week was an exciting time for our office. Robyn and Michelle both attended the Nebraska Land Title Association's annual Fall Convention in Omaha. While there, Robyn received her Title Professional of Nebraska designation, as well as was installed as the NLTA Board President. These are both incredible achievements and reflects her hard work and dedication to the Title Industry. Michelle also serves on the Education Committee, which is responsible for the educational content at the conference.

We want everyone to be aware that one of the fees associated with almost every closing will be going up next month. The Nebraska Legislature passed legislation that will raise the cost of the Documentary Stamp Tax rate from $2.25 per $1,000 to $2.32 per $1,000. This fee is paid to the county recording office when a deed is filed. We will automatically make that adjustment on the settlement statement for any closings after that date, but you will want to keep that in mind when estimating closing costs.

While Megan and Michelle kept the office running, Robyn spent the week in Washington, D.C. representing Nebraska at the American Land Title Association Advocacy Summit. In addition to the industry workshops, their group also met with elected officials on Capitol Hill, including Congressman Mike Flood and Rep. Adrian Smith. It was a great honor to have the opportunity to represent our great state and the title insurance industry on a national stage!
