As of today, July 20, 2026, there will be a change to closing costs that we want everyone to be aware of. The Documentary Stamp Tax Rate is rising $1.00 to $3.32 per $1,000. This will have a noticeable impact on closing costs. This is a change made on the state level, individual title companies and county governments have no control over the increase. Passed by the Nebraska State Legislature via LB 1067, this $1.00 increase is earmarked to fund workforce housing initiatives and is set to automatically revert back to $2.32 on January 1, 2032.
