BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED

The City of St. Petersburg has lifted the citywide boil water notice that was issued during Hurricane Milton. Residents and businesses in St. Petersburg, Lealman, and South Pasadena can now resume normal water usage. After thorough testing, results confirm that the water in those areas now meets all safety and quality standards. The boil water notice is still in effect for the City of Gulfport. Residents and businesses of Gulfport should follow instructions from the Gulfport water utilities.

This precautionary notice was put in place when water pressure in the distribution system dropped below regulatory levels due to more than 300-plus water main breaks caused by the storm.

As a precaution, the Florida Department of Health recommends running each tap for at least five minutes to flush the lines. Be sure to also flush misters, drinking fountains, ice makers (discard the first batch of ice), soda machines, and any other equipment connected to the water supply.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we worked to restore safe water to the community.

UPDATE ON POTABLE (DRINKING WATER) SERVICE IN ST. PETE:

The City is responding to a water main break that will impact potable water services across the entire city. To address the issue and prevent further complications, the City is shutting off potable (drinking) water service citywide beginning at midnight tonight, October 9.

Residents and businesses should prepare for this temporary shutdown, which is expected to last until the necessary repairs can be completed. Repairs to the water line will begin once it is safe for crews to be outside. Affected areas may already be experiencing low water pressure or service interruptions.

The City is issuing a boil water notice for all potable water used for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth until further notice. Once the system is restored, further testing will be conducted to ensure water safety before lifting the boil water notice.

Once it is safe to do so, the City will work around the clock to address this issue. Updates will be provided through the City’s website, emergency alerts and social media channels.

Pinellas County has started mandatory evacuations for our long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities and hospitals in Zone A, B and C. We are coordinating directly with these facilities to make sure our most vulnerable residents have time to relocate to safety in the event we get severe impacts from the storm.

The mandatory orders are only for these facilities, but Pinellas County is encouraging voluntary evacuation for residents in Zone A, B and C and mobile homes in advance of possible mandatory orders Monday. At-risk residents can evacuate only a few miles to higher ground and safe structures outside of Zone C. If evacuations are ordered, the County will open emergency shelters.
