Recently closed on a home and received a letter asking you to pay $100–$200 for a “certified copy” of your recorded deed?

Do not pay it!

This is a common scam. Your closing attorney already has your recorded deed and will gladly provide you a copy at no cost.

Unfortunately, these misleading mailers are designed to look official and often arrive just weeks after closing. We make it a priority to warn our clients about scams like this, but if something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts.
