The Captain John Felt House, built 1757 — 47 Federal Street, Salem.
Situated across from the Essex County Superior Court, this home is significant for many reasons.
First, the original owner, Captain John Felt, was involved in Leslie’s Retreat on February 26, 1775, in which the townspeople of Salem repelled the British militia from the area. This was a precursor to the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
