Starting the process by "just browsing" could set you up for heartbreak. Before you go looking for (and falling in love with) a home, you need a realistic idea of what you can afford, make sure your credit is in good shape, and, most importantly, get pre-approved for a mortgage.

In 2023, existing home sales fell 19% compared to 2022, while new home sales rose 4%. It was a rough year for affordability (home prices kept rising) and availability (inventory remained low) but 2024 could see an improvement in both - particularly in regions where new home construction ramped-up.
