Need a reminder of why people fall in love with Colorado?

Ride a tram to 12,012 feet and look out across five mountain ranges. ⛰️🚠

Monarch at the Crest Scenic Tramway is officially open for the season, giving visitors a chance to experience one of the most spectacular views in the state. The ride takes you to the top of the Continental Divide, where 360-degree mountain views stretch as far as the eye can see.

It's one of our favorite summer adventures near Salida, and one we find ourselves recommending again and again.

Pack a jacket, bring your camera, and don't forget the sunscreen. The views are unforgettable, and the mountain air feels pretty good, too.

When you're driving 4,000 miles across the U.S. in an RV, finding places worth slowing down for becomes part of the adventure.

We're so glad chose to spend part of their journey with us here at Creekside Chalets, parking their RV by the creek and using Salida as a home base to explore Chaffee County.

The FIBArk Youth Paddling Program gives kids and teens ages 6–18 the opportunity to learn whitewater kayaking and boating skills right here on the Arkansas River.

From learning basic paddle strokes and river safety to building confidence on the water, this program creates unforgettable experiences for young adventurers while teaching respect for the river and the outdoors 🚣♂️💙

With instruction both on the river and at the Salida Hot Springs Pool, beginner paddlers can safely learn the fundamentals, while advanced students continue developing whitewater techniques, river awareness, and teamwork skills.

Programs like this are a huge part of what makes Salida such a special mountain community, kids growing up outside, learning new skills, and making lifelong summer memories 🌲✨

The FIBArk Parade returns on Saturday, June 20th from 10AM–12PM, bringing downtown Salida to life with colorful floats, horse-drawn wagons, monster trucks, “Hooligan” crafts, music, and plenty of small-town Colorado charm.

This is the kind of event that makes you fall in love with Salida even more ❤️ Families line the streets early with coffee in hand, kids wave at every float that passes by, and the whole town feels like one big celebration.

The parade route runs along F Street from 6th to 1st, followed by a foot parade to Riverside Park — making it the perfect way to spend a summer Saturday in the mountains ☀️🏔️

If you’re visiting for FIBArk weekend, now’s the time to book your stay at Creekside Chalets 🌲✨ Stay close to all the excitement while still having a cozy place to relax after a full day of festivities, live music, river events, and mountain adventures.

Not every improvement at Creekside Chalets is something you can see right away, but some of the best upgrades are the ones you feel after a long day of mountain adventures 🚿🏔️✨

Behind the scenes, we recently completed an upgrade to our well house with new pressure tanks designed to improve water pressure throughout the chalets and campsites.

It may not be the flashiest project on the property, but after a full day of hiking, rafting, biking, soaking in hot springs, or exploring Salida, a hot shower with strong, consistent water pressure definitely matters 💚

Running a mountain property takes a lot of care, especially during busy summer months, and we’re always investing in the little things that help make your stay more relaxing, comfortable, and stress-free. From maintaining the grounds to improving amenities and updating systems behind the scenes, every project is done with our guests in mind 🌲

If you’re looking for live music, river vibes, mountain sunsets, and the perfect weekend adventure, The Beach Music Series in Buena Vista needs to be on your summer list.
