Home safety is one of those things that's easy to overlook, until it matters most.
Taking a few minutes this weekend to check your smoke detectors and refresh your fire safety habits can make all the difference, and a safe home helps keep our whole community secure.
Here are a few quick fire safety checks to tackle:
1. Test Your Smoke Detectors
Press the test button on every smoke detector in your home. If you don't hear a loud, clear alarm, it's time for new batteries or a new unit altogether.
2. Replace Batteries Twice a Year
A good rule of thumb: change your smoke detector batteries when you change your clocks. If it's been a while, today's a great day to swap them out.
3. Review Your Escape Plan
Walk through your home's exit routes with your family and make sure everyone knows at least two ways out of every room. A quick refresher can save precious seconds in an emergency.
Taking fire safety seriously is something that protects us all.
A few small habits today can make a big difference tomorrow - for your home, your family, and our community.
