It appears that the Feds are willing to have a dovish stance on the fight against inflation. This means we are not likely to see any rate increases in 2024. The opposite we hope will be true and we’ll start seeing some decreases in interest rates by April or May of 2024.

Yet there was no market crash as the dooms-dayers on social media would have liked to have seen. In fact, nationally, home prices are up 2% year over year. Home prices are expected to increase modestly in 2024. Yet the good news is that we’re likely to see affordability improvements heading into 2024. As mortgage rates fell through November, housing costs declined.

With pendings on the rise but inventory on the decline we’re in a position where sellers may have the advantage. The advantage will show up around the median priced single family home. Again, we’ll likely see a bump in inventory the first couple of weeks of January as many hold off until after the holidays to list their homes for sale….Mistake.
