In April at Utah Women's Investing Club, Peter Rosen from KSL joined us to hear Tracey Dean speak about how women invest.

A few days ago, KSL published a story on a topic that sparked a lot of conversation in the room:

Why do women often earn better investment returns than men?

The answer isn't that women have access to special information or are somehow better at predicting the market.

According to the research discussed in the article, women tend to trade less, do more research, take a longer-term view, and are less likely to let overconfidence drive decisions.

One of my favorite points from Tracey's presentation was that investing doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing choice between doing everything yourself and handing everything off to someone else.

You can learn. You can stay involved. You can ask questions.

And you can still seek guidance when you're making major financial decisions.

As Tracey put it, the most important thing is to have a plan and stick to it.

Thank you to Peter Rosen and KSL for highlighting this conversation and helping bring more attention to how women are approaching investing.

Thank you to all the beautiful people who joined us for the backyard garden party.

What stood out to me most wasn't any single conversation, it was how many conversations were happening at once.

Women sharing experiences, asking questions, exchanging ideas, and connecting with people they may not have met otherwise.

We ran out of time before we ran out of things to talk about, which tells me we're creating something meaningful together.

If you met someone you'd like to stay connected with, our Facebook group is a great place to continue those conversations.

Thank you all for helping make the evening so special.

We’re only four days away from the backyard garden party.
One thing I’ve realized over the years is that people don’t just come to events like this for information.
They come because they want community.
They want people they can actually talk to about money, investing, goals, and the decisions they’re navigating.
At most events, those conversations start… but there’s not always enough time for them to go very far.
That’s really the intention behind this night.
A relaxed setting. No speaker. No agenda. Just time to connect and actually get to know each other.
Whether you’ve been investing for years or you’re just starting to think about it, you’re welcome here.
Food, drinks, good people, and meaningful conversation.

A lot of people come to Utah Women’s Investing Club for the information, but they stay because of the people.
Some of the women I consider friends now, I met through the investing club. Not during the presentation, but in the conversations before and after. Sitting a little longer, continuing a conversation, realizing we were thinking about similar things.
That doesn’t always happen at more structured events.
This night is meant to create more space for that.
A place to actually get to know people, not just meet them.
If you’ve been wanting more community around investing, this is a good place to start.
We’re keeping it small, and spots are starting to fill.

If you’ve been to one of our events before, you’ve probably felt this—
You start a really good conversation with someone…
And then the event ends.
This night is meant to give more space for that.
Just a backyard, good food, good people, and time to actually connect and talk through the things that matter.
Investing, decisions you’re navigating, or just getting to know people who are thinking about their future in a similar way.

Spots are already filling up, so I recommend to RSVP early.

Join us for a relaxed evening of connection, networking, and real conversations about money and investing.

This isn’t a workshop or a presentation.

It’s a chance to step away from the noise, meet other women who are thinking about their financial future, and have conversations that don’t usually happen in everyday life.

Backyard setting. Food, drinks, and good people.

No cost to attend.

This afternoon, Tracey walked through something I don’t think gets explained clearly very often:

How to think about different types of financial advisors, and what role they actually play.

She also talked about why women tend to see strong returns over time, which was interesting to hear laid out in a practical way.

We had the pleasure of having KSL there to write a story on how/why women have been so successful with investing.

One thing that seemed to land:

You don’t necessarily have to choose between doing everything yourself or handing everything off.

There’s a middle ground where you can still be very involved, but use a financial planner to build a solid plan and check big decisions.

Appreciate everyone who came and spent the afternoon with us and Maven Create for hosting.
